Mini wrapping frenzy

Still trying to get as many wraps as possible finished by next month. I’m grateful that Thunderbird had their big sale, since I’m almost out of silver wire. I wanted to wrap a few quartz crystals and am currently working on some dino bone wraps. I also fit in a little cabbing, have to have a stone to wrap, right? Here’s what I have finished so far.

Thanks for stopping by!

Wire wrapping frenzy

So Christmas is only a few months away and I plan on doing a small local show so here is the beginning of a wire wrapping frenzy. Plus I wrapped a couple of pieces of moldavite for a Mom and her daughter.
Here are the pics.

Now on to make more! 🙂

A Berrendo Agate piece

This is a piece that I made for the contest on the Taogem forum. I made a few pieces and decided on this one. I will post pictures of all the pieces at the end. It was hard to decide which piece to enter. The pieces that had the most votes from family and friends were the Velvet obsidian and the Berrendo agate. The Mexican fire opal kept being chosen as the one everyone wanted tho. Confusing me even more. So I went with the original piece I had in mind to enter. Besides I had taken more photos of the that one while I was making it.
Here are pictures of most of the process.

It had been awhile since I put a piece together with solder instead of wire. It was fun tho and I just might make a few more.

Dino bone

Today was a great day for cabbing. Not too hot and no interruptions. I had a few cuts of dino bone and a couple of others. So I just had to use them up. My saw blade is busted so I have to use up what’s already cut up. I go thru these stages where I really like a certain rock for awhile and then go on to another. But while I’m obsessed its all about that rock. lol Right now its dino bone. Boulder opal is always at the top of my list tho. There’s always time for a boulder opal.
I also finished up a wrap of the Berrendo agate from last weekend. My goal was to showcase the cab since the color is so intense. I also wanted to keep the middle of the cab unobstructed all the way thru where its transparent.
Here’s the pics…

I hope your weekend was wonderful!

Labor Day weekend

Three day weekends rock, literally. I got some cabbing done and even a little silver work. I need more time, all the time. lol
I had a small slab of Velvet Obsidian, and it was calling my name. The rock has beautiful colors. Its hard to get the pictures just right and capture the pinks and purples. I hope some came thru in the pics I’m about to post. There is also a small cab of flowering tube onyx. I have a very small amount of this rock and its pretty hard to find so I use it sparingly. They all came out with a great shine. I hope you like!

I also hope you had a great weekend..

Almost no wire weekend

This weekend was a great cabbing and smithing weekend.  I’m thinking on making a couple of pieces for the contest so that I can hopefully pick the best to enter.  I have started the 1st one and have been cabbing so I can start the 2nd.  I’m really liking how this one is turning out so far.  I’m not sure if posting pics is ok as far as the contest goes, so I’m gonna post the sketch and the pics of the cabs.  The sketch is a rough one, just fyi. 🙂 In this piece I’m using the Berendo agate cab from the last post. The only wire was  a wrap I finished for a friend.  Made out of turquoise, coral and a sapphire.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you had a great weekend!

Gifts

Well I received a box from a nice person on the RTH forum. She was kind enough to send a box of leather pieces plus a few gifts.  People in the rock hobbies are so kind. I was wanting some of that leather to use to polish boulder opal. I have enough now to last a very, very long time.  I’m gonna post some pics. I have also gotten the chance to do a lil cabbing and weaving silver.  I have to send a lil thank you, don’t I? 🙂

Beautiful 4th of July!

The weekend was a long and beautiful one. I hope you all had a really nice holiday. As usual it went fast.
I’ve been looking for some kind of inspiration and I stumbled on a blog by Twisted sister art. Well this lady is just amazing. Her style is unique and inspiring.
I did get a chance to do a lil cabbing and wire wrapping. I’ve been trying to change wrapping style a bit, but I’m gonna have to practice. I tend to get bored easily and I like a good challenge.
The cabs are peridot, garnets, fire agates, Topaz and Morgan Hill poppy jasper. As for the wrapping. Ok the first one, I’m still on the fence about. Reminds me of a tadpole. 🙂 The peridot one I like better. But then again its closer to my original stuff. So Let me know what you think of the tadpole. Here are few pics.

Thanks for taking a few minutes to stop by. ☮

Carved Scarab

This is one of the scarabs from the past estate sale along with a very pretty blue tourmaline.

I loved the way the cab was carved into a scarab and just couldn’t wait to wrap it up. It needed silver. I felt the lil blue would be happy to keep it company.

Day to play!

Wow, great weather for cabbing and just being outside. The sunstones I bought last weekend have been of really good quality.  I wish I could capture the chatoyancy in a picture. They are just beautiful and I’m sure they’re gonna make great pieces of jewelry. Well here are a couple that are finished as well as a couple of Mexican fire opals with different colors that are much more vibrant in person.
