I finished a pendant that is a twist of stones and silver wire. I wanted it to have stones on all sides and no matter which way it hangs it would have something pretty. I had a piece of the Chrysocolla/Malachite Drusy from Peru and I wanted it to be the focal. I soldered a couple of pieces of 18 gauge silver wire to make it look like a dragon finger, or so it does to me anyway. Then I started weaving from it. The piece has 3 tourmalines, 2 garnets, and a spinel along with the drusy cab. Here is the pic for it and a lil video.
I had an idea for another but it will have to wait since my life has been invaded by a couple of lil gremlins.
They are so much fun, but just like kids they take up alot of time.
Thanks for coming by!
Well, no holiday weekend, and rain. No rock fun, other than finishing a couple of wraps. I wrapped a couple of morrisonite cabs that I polished little while back. Here they are.
So I cut the Chrysocolla side of the rock from the prior post. It was a little tough, being that I didn’t want to cut it wrong or lose any of the druzy. I then cabbed it and was really happy with the outcome. I also cabbed a piece Morrisonite that takes a shine like glass with very little effort. Love this stuff. Here’s a few clickable pics.
Its been so hectic. Getting ready for a small Christmas show and then Christmas itself. The boutique turned out ok and it was really fun. I hadn’t set up for one in quite awhile and it turned out pretty good. I wrapped so many pieces that I burned out for a little while it seems. I didn’t even want to look at a piece of wire. So I cabbed a little, very little, went out and found a few pretty rocks. Mostly red jasper and pet wood. Until a few days ago a friend sent a few awesome cabs and wanted one wrapped. I was back into wire. I couldn’t stop! I’m just grateful it was the weekend since I got no sleep. lol I hope he likes his pendant half as much as I like the cab and slabs he sent me. I even got a lil cabbing in today. Looks like I’m slowly getting back in the swing.
Another long weekend coming up.. yay!
Hope this one was great for you.
Still trying to get as many wraps as possible finished by next month. I’m grateful that Thunderbird had their big sale, since I’m almost out of silver wire. I wanted to wrap a few quartz crystals and am currently working on some dino bone wraps. I also fit in a little cabbing, have to have a stone to wrap, right? Here’s what I have finished so far.
Well I received a box from a nice person on the RTH forum. She was kind enough to send a box of leather pieces plus a few gifts. People in the rock hobbies are so kind. I was wanting some of that leather to use to polish boulder opal. I have enough now to last a very, very long time. I’m gonna post some pics. I have also gotten the chance to do a lil cabbing and weaving silver. I have to send a lil thank you, don’t I? 🙂
This is one of the scarabs from the past estate sale along with a very pretty blue tourmaline.
I loved the way the cab was carved into a scarab and just couldn’t wait to wrap it up. It needed silver. I felt the lil blue would be happy to keep it company.
Wow, great weather for cabbing and just being outside. The sunstones I bought last weekend have been of really good quality. I wish I could capture the chatoyancy in a picture. They are just beautiful and I’m sure they’re gonna make great pieces of jewelry. Well here are a couple that are finished as well as a couple of Mexican fire opals with different colors that are much more vibrant in person.
