I finished a pendant that is a twist of stones and silver wire. I wanted it to have stones on all sides and no matter which way it hangs it would have something pretty. I had a piece of the Chrysocolla/Malachite Drusy from Peru and I wanted it to be the focal. I soldered a couple of pieces of 18 gauge silver wire to make it look like a dragon finger, or so it does to me anyway. Then I started weaving from it. The piece has 3 tourmalines, 2 garnets, and a spinel along with the drusy cab. Here is the pic for it and a lil video.
I had an idea for another but it will have to wait since my life has been invaded by a couple of lil gremlins.
They are so much fun, but just like kids they take up alot of time.
Thanks for coming by!
So Christmas is only a few months away and I plan on doing a small local show so here is the beginning of a wire wrapping frenzy. Plus I wrapped a couple of pieces of moldavite for a Mom and her daughter.
Here are the pics.
These pendants have taken me for quite a ride. But they’re finally done. My daughter called the first one head over heels. Maybe you can see why… the second one is just plain crazy.
Well this weekend was pretty much a bust as far as getting to any hobby activities. I have a couple of wire wraps started but nothing finished and no cabbing. I lost my buddy and friend Saturday evening. My old 12 inch powerbook died. While I understand that its just a laptop computer, it was like a good friend too. It had all my pictures and bookmarks, it was small and familiar. I was thinking that I would have to buy another soon, but I was in no hurry and really enjoyed my lil companion. The battery would no longer hold a charge for long but no matter. It held so much more. I listen to Leo Laportes podcasts and know all about backing up files. But until it happens to you, do you know just how much you’re gonna miss what you have stored on the little brains or extensions of ourselves. Luckily my husband thinks he may be able to get into the old hard drive and salvage some pictures and maybe some documents. I had been bracing myself for the day so There wasn’t much on there that I really need. I bought a shiney new aluminum macbook pro. Its a lil bigger than my old powerbook and the screen has a really nice picture. There is so much more software too. Bigger hard drive, bigger everything. I like small. My last one fit on my lap better. lol There are worse things in life, I know. Its just funny how a little change can be a big one. Well, things will be better, I’m sure they will.. 😉 I wish for you that nothing breaks and if you know the end is near for one of your dear friends, brace yourself… and umm back up your data.
So here are some pics of a few components I’ve made and hopefully they will turn into some nice pieces.
Well its been a great few days of cabbing and wrapping silver. Ok a lil shopping added to the mix made for a great little vacation.
I wrapped a few faceted stones and I’m really enjoying the shine they put out. Its almost to the point I want to learn how. Almost because of the price of a faceting machine.
Well here’s a few pics of some cabs. They are pietersite, 2 seraphinite, turtella, moss agate, flourite, a pink botswana agate, and a porcelain jasper. The wraps are peridot, garnet, and blue green tourmaline.
As for the shopping I upgraded my Iphone. I had wanted to since the new 3gs was unveiled, but every time I had visited the Apple store or AT&T store they were out. Not this time, yay! I like the camera and have had no issues, but I really hadn’t expected any. On my last one I was pushing the limit on memory space, so with the upgrade I have lots more room. My husband was still using his 2g so he got the hand me down 3g and was happy with that. His 2g will be a nice itouch or back up phone if its ever needed. Still love my Iphone. 🙂
Until next time…
The best thing about the bay area is the weather. Usually that is. Today the sun got us into the hundred degree stuff! Yesterday was just as bad too. That said outside activities were morning ones and then outta the heat the rest of the day. I did my best to make a new piece or at least start one but to no avail. I have wrappers block. That’s what my husband calls it. lol 🙂 I finished one pendant that I had started during the week and thats about it. I was wanting to break out and try something a lil different so, yeah, scrap metal baby!.. I know your probably tired of the lil green stones I’m so happy about but seriously, I’m gonna show you the other one I had in the first batch then I promise to keep going with new stuff. That said here ya go….
Today was a great day to get things done around the house like cabbing and starting up some pendants. lol, ok, so I wasn’t talking about washing clothes and cleaning house. Thats a given, for Saturday. Anyhoo, I got to finish a couple of cabs, start a few others, as well as finish up a pendant and start a few. Here my hard work for the day even tho it doesn’t seem like much.. I’m only posting the finished stuff.
I hope everyone’s weekend ended safe and happy as did mine and those closest to me. You know who are.
This is one of the scarabs from the past estate sale along with a very pretty blue tourmaline.
I loved the way the cab was carved into a scarab and just couldn’t wait to wrap it up. It needed silver. I felt the lil blue would be happy to keep it company.
Man its hot!! Not the usual for this area, and I’m so not used to it anymore. Â Â I did take the time to polish a few pieces of jewelry and take a few pics this past weekend. Â So here they are…
Mexican Fire agate
Â
Tourmy
Â
A slice
Â
Agate
Â
Sunstones
The sunstones were a nice buy at the gem and mineral show this past weekend in Santa Clara. Â Which was the best gem show I had been to in a very long time.
I hope you like, thanks for looking…If you’re interested in any of the pieces click on the link at the top right, where it says shop here.
